Possible trip to County Kerry

Hey Folks,Would there be any interest in an 'informal' trip to SW Ireland, County Kerry, during this summer (July / August 2023)?

This would not be a proper club meet, that you have to book onto. My idea is for something similar to last years Alps trip, eg some like minded members agree to go somewhere at the same time.

I'd be happy to lead discussions and even do a group booking, after collecting money from folks. But the club would not be booking anything, this purely a personal suggestion from me to coordinate plans.

So, my plan is to have a chat after the Robbie Phillips talk at the Stirling County Cricket Club on Friday 3rd February.


I'm looking at Killarney, County Kerry for informal meet. Which is adjacent to the MacGillcuddy Reeks, it has a couple of campsites, a hostel and lots of other types of accommodation.



Basically, we need to agree suitable dates and then folk can decide if they want to do their own thing or join up for a group booking.

Following up on the planned informal / unofficial trip to Ireland. I had a chat with a few folk after the Robbie Phillips talk on 3rd Feb. Those that expressed a preference of dates, the majority view was for it, not to be in August.  A long weekend makes the most sense due to the distances involved. So I've settled on Thursday 14th to Monday 17th July to be in or around Kilnarey, County Kerry. I assume most folk would make their own arrangements, as I've said previously, this is not an official club trip, just members getting together to go somewhere. No club money will be spent, no booking onto meets etc. If your interested, message me / comment below and I'll setup a WhatsApp chat, so we can coordinate. I plan on staying at the Black Sheep Hostel in Killarney (www.blacksheephostel.ie/). If you want to do a group booking (for a dorm room etc) let me know by Monday 20th Feb. Regarding ferries, I plan to turn this into a longer trip, visiting the Wicklow Mountains and Galtymore in County Tipperary
