This is a change to the original programme. Due to circumstances beyond her control, Polly is unable to give us her talk in October, but hopes to reschedule it for a future date.
In the meantime, we're delighted that her husband, Richard Haworth, is coming to give us a talk entiteld "In the Footsteps of Tilman", which is about sailing and mountaineering expeditions to the high latitudes. The images he will be showing us were collected over several mounaineering expeditions to Antarctica and during six years spent working as the skipper of charter yachts taking clients to Antarctica, South Georgia and the Arctic.
A little bit about Richard: He is an experienced mountaineer and skipper of charter yachts in polar waters, having managed many establlished yachts including "Pelagic" and Pelagic Australis". His wealth of experience exploring remote areas includes leading the first sailing expediton to explore some of the uncharted coastal areas of Baffin island. Richard runs the company High Latitudes, which specialises in assisting and supporting private vessel expeditions to the remote cruising grounds of the world.
