Book Opens 20/08/09 | 12 Places, inc 1 Child Place, Cost: 5GBP pppn. Strawberry Cottage is a rustic hut 5 miles from the nearst public road down a dirt track. The track is usually passable by standard cars. The hut has solar powered lighting, with cooking on gas hobs. You'll need to bring a sleeping bag. There is a wood burning stove for heating with logs provided.
Access is via a locked gate (at the public-road-end). There will be 2 keys to this. The weekend will hence require a wee bit more co-ordination than the usual OMC free-for-all! I suggest sharing cars from Stirling and travelling in convoy (I'll supply the CB radio's!!) Strawberry Cottage is 43 miles from Inverness, but this distance will take 1.5-2hrs to cover (unless you get a lift with Iain!).
The rules are: 2 cars may be taken down the road on Friday evening, and 2 cars driven back to civilisation on Sunday. I.e use of cars to ferry people in/out is not permitted. I suggest we find 2 willing drivers with willing vehicles (Chealsea Tractors best), and ask them to take the kit in while everyone else enjoys a late evening 5 mile trek on foot/bike.
Excellent oportunity to nail some of the more remote hills in the area without a huge walk-in! Now full, but if you want your name on the reserve list, let me know.
