Climbing in Scotland, The Alps and Alaska

Over the last year Vivian has found himself among other things shivering through a forced bivy on the north face of the Grandes Jorasses, sprinting under tottering Alaskan seracs and abseiling into Beinn Eighe in a storm. What brings these moments together is deciding each time never to leave home comforts ever again... unfortunately Vivian has a short memory.

Growing up in London, Vivian moved to Scotland six years ago where he continues his apprenticeship in the weird and wonderful world of winter climbing with repeats and first ascents across the country. Further afield, since his first trip aged 16, Vivian has made regular visits to the Alps to be humbled by the great faces and in April last year, Vivian together with Gareth Hughes went to the Ruth area of the Alaska Range in search of snow and ice - finding slightly more than they bargained for.

NOTE: As with all social evenings where there is no business meeting, a short general meeting will preceed the talk to enable new members to be nomintated, and any items of interest to be notified.
