Hut Facilities:

- Carpeted sleeping platform, bring a warm sleeping bag, and a sleeping mat if you require additional comfort.

- There is no microwave, but there are hobs and an oven + pots/pans/crockery etc.

- There are no showers etc, but there is a toilet - although currently this is flushed manually with a bucket of water filled from the stream.

- Washing up liquid, cloths, tea towels etc are not provided. Lucy and myself will take these.

- Heating is by solid fuel stove. Wood/Coal is required. Dave Gordon will take in one bag, we may need two more? - or some of Scotty's firewood! Has anyone got easy access to coal from home etc - save someone a trip down to the shops - where does one buy coal in Stirling?

- Electricity is on a meter which takes £1 coins - can people attending ensure that they have a couple?

- Rubbish needs to be taken back out from the hut

- The water supply is from the stream. Boiling is advised - or bring your own.

- Is anyone intending to stop at the pub before heading over to the hut (Glen Clova Hotel)?

- There may still be some spaces remaining contact Scott. Camping is also permitted out the back for £5/night if all spaces have gone and weather watchers wish to attend.

Hut Location

Access is through the side gate at the end of the public road at Braedownie. Head up the norrow footpath, over 2 bridges for 140yrds ignoring the small hut on the right after the second bridge. Hut grid ref: 285 758 (Sheet 44). Keep the headtorch handy!!

There are still a few places available so contact me if you want to go.

Russ Claire is just going up for the Saturday night and if anyone else wants to go for just the one night that would also be fine.

Just let me know.

Cheers

Hi Scott

- Sharon and Craig were indeed in last night and have confirmed attendance. Someone has/will collect some dosh from them.

- John McEwan is attending, he was in last night.

- Chris Gould pulled out of this meet, see his post here

- Mhari has pulled out as well

From your list, ommiting Mr Gould, and Mhari and including the reserves, that means we have 12 people (!) and 4 spaces. If anyone wants any of these spaces (one night only is fine, potential new member is fine) I suggest they contact me as it will be easier for me to manage as Scott is not attending.

I am on 01786 480397 / 07841 340388. Its doubtful whether my phone will work from the hut, so you'll have to phone Fri eve, or just turn up on spec.

For the new people: You will need winter kit. Ice axe, winter boots, crampons, head torch, hat, gloves, waterproofs, blah (see here). An axe can likely be lent (contact me above), but if you dont have the boots/crampons then you may find yourself having to turn around before the summit.

Can a few people bring along a bog roll?!

Russ
Are you going up on Saturday morning or afternoon? If you are going up in the afternoon, would it be ok for a lift? I think the forecast may be better for Sat., so I understand if you want to get something done then, but if not would it be ok for a lift? I tried to phone you, but must have an old number. I could be ready for around 1.30pm.

Andy,

It's not that simple, unfortunately, which is why I have not suggested anything. I have to be in Dundee tomorrow until sometime in the early afternoon. I was planning on going to Clova from there.

I could arrange to pick you up from the station. However, I have gone down with a cold now, and if it develops into something 'orrible like Man-Flu I may well decide to come straight home from Dundee.

The best I can suggest is I phone you as early as possible Saturday if I decide to go on, and there's time for you to get on a train.

It's ok I'm not feeling too hot myself and think I'll probably give it a miss. Besides, a former club member who lives on my delivery has suggested doing Mayar and Dreish sometime anyway, which would be my main targets, being my only two "three timers" in the area, had I gone up. I was just being a bit of a lift opportunist, having not originally planned on going anyway. When I'm 90 and finally get off my bum and get my licence, I shudder to think how many lifts I'll owe!
