The Ochils Mountaineering Club

With Rod working all weekend, I headed off to Glenfinnan on Saturday morning to walk up Beinn Odhar Mhor, Beinn Odhar Bheag and Beinn Mhic Cedidh. The journey up the A82 was done at snail pace as it was so busy, so I had a lunchtime start. Had great views to Rum, Skye and all the surrounding hills. It was sunny, incredibly hot and the clegs were out in full force, the wee breeze blowing at times could not keep them away. Saw many dragon- and damselflies. Stayed at Glen Nevis youth hostel (getting a bit pricey at £17.50 a night for a bunkbed!) and on Sunday headed to Loch Arkaig to bag Sgurr Cos na Breachd-laoigh and Fraoch Bheinn. It was another hot day to start with and I soon wished I had gone to a beach instead of up a hill but it clouded over later. It was muggy all day but I still had views and on the second top a surprisingly cold wind was blowing which seemed to bring rainshowers (they never came to anything). Let's hope this great weather continues!
