16th-17th August 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Having accepted that a relaxing weekend is currently out of the question, we're heading up to Blackrock Caravan & Camping Park at Evanton, with the plan of heading up a couple more of the hills South of Alladale.
It's far enough NE that there might even be a chance of decent weather on Saturday (I hope...)
We're off now. In the off chance anyone else feels like joining in, we'll be in the biggish green/blue vango dome tent, possibly with baby teething noises emanating from it.

Freya was her usual happy camping self on Friday night and slept passably well. Unfortunately, she needed to catch up too and slept most of the day on Saturday as we wandered the hills, so was bright and fresh all night afterwards, keen to play at every hour of the morning!
The weather was good after all. It started a bit overcast on Saturday, with cloud on the higher tops, but this gradually disappeared leaving it lovely and sunny, if a bit breezy. We parked near Glencalvie Lodge, and made the long trek into Beinn Tharsuinn (a remote Graham way to the SW of our parking spot):

We carried on round the high moors to Carn Chuinneag, passing a large clump of ripe cloudberries on the way - tangy, but nice:

By the time we got up Carn Chuinneag, the views were great in all directions - we could see Morven, Beinn Klibrack, Ben Loyal, Ben Hope, the Foinaven group, Ben More Assynt, Inverpolly, the Fannaichs, The Beinn Dearg Group, the Strathfarrar, Mullardoch and Affric hills, Ben Wyvis ... you get the idea!
Inverpolly from the W top:

We got down fairly late, but had a shorter day planned for Sunday. The weather was lovely at dawn, but we hadn't quite given up on sleep by that time. A few hours later, it had clouded over and the rain was spitting lightly.
We headed up Carn Salachaidh from by Gruinards in Strathcarron. After a couple of showers the weather improved gradually, and it was quite pleasant at the tops:

A pleasant weekend, and we even slept quite well for a few hours last night!

Jock's Road with my cousins on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Berry picking on the way home on Sunday. My tummy still enjoying the fruits of my labout.

Jeanie and I had a good day hillwalking on Beinn Sgulaird. We had hoped to climb in Glencoe but on arriving there it was very wet, in fact you couldn't even see the Buachaille. It did amazingly clear up after Ballachulish so we headed to Loch Creran where we had a dry and at times a sunny day on Beinn Sgulaird. Not another person on the hill and great views.

So you're OK for getting out on the hill after all, Alison? That's good to hear.
