Cullen Camping Meet (22-24/08/08) 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi

The Cullen camping meet has swapped places with the Wooler camping meet to avoid heading to Wooler over an English bank holiday.

Feel free to use this thread to organise transport etc

Hi

I will likely attend, not sure yet about loops. Stu and Jeanie have guests this weekend . What about the new lads, Scotty, Cabey, Dave, JD? About time Drummond got back out there too

I ain't climbed since Applecross so will be even shitter than usual (hard to believe, I know!)

Long forecast not looking great for Saturday at the moment...Sunday better though.
John has house viewings this weekend (he hopes!). Not heard of Jim or Cabey since Skye! Think I'll head up if the weather looks ok...Lewis, Ewan, Scott, Drummond(??), Iain all unaccounted for so far.....

Much as I need some climbing mileage, I don't think I'll make this one - I have a long weekend off work, and hope to get to an island or the NW. The weather may yet scupper my plans, though...

That's a shame, Iain - see you soon though I'm sure. Hope you do get good weather but if not come down to Cullen cos the sun always shines on God's country!

Hi

Just had a phonecall from Drummond who had phoned the caravan park we are intending to stay at this weekend.

He was trying to book himself a static caravan (shandy!!)

Apparentely they are almost fully booked. If anyone is intending to goto this meet, they will have to make those intentions known so that I can book some places.

Turning up on spec at the last minute is no longer an option, and I dont believe that there are any other camp sites close by?

So... I'll give people until 5PM Thursday to state their intention to attend (give people their chance to check the MWIS forecast!), and will then phone the site and let them know how many people - maybe they can put us in a wee corner...

If no interest, then I guess the meet gets cancelled. Days climbing elsewhere perhaps? If it gets cancelled then Cullen would be a possibility (along with Wooler) for the meet in two weeks time (depending on the weather, and peoples' wishes)!

Weather forecast is rather erm 'marginal' at the moment... (surprise surprise).

Nigel, I'm waiting for the forecast too. There is another caravan site at Findochty about 5 miles from Cullen. Not quite as hand for Logiehead, but folk will all have cars anyway. Also the Findochty site is next door to the pub. If I do go up, I hope to get a few bods out to Redhythe Point for a wee change....nice crag, about 5 mils further on from Cullen. Mostly Severes but also a few abseil in jobs. Quiet too.

Hi Bruce

Since you know of the other site, you fancy giving them a ring and see if they are in the same boat regards spaces?

Should be able to practically guarantee good weather at this time of the year... tis driving me mad!

You heard out from the other likely candidates?

Nigel,
I'll give them a quick call and let you know. Lewis is keen, we've just been washed out of Ardverikie Wall today. Yuk.

Bruce

PS Guys in 5* splendor-wagons should not throw stones at boys in static caravans!
