John Bowers & I headed up towards the Cairngorms on Sunday to try Savage Slit. However as we approached Aviemore, we couldn't see the Cairngorms. Having dismissed the notion that someone had stolen them, we summised that it must have been the mist and drizzle!

After a quick coffee stop and second breakfast, we headed up to Huntly's Cave where we had a most enjoyable day climbing Right Hand Groove, Cave Route (strange awkward exposed finish), Slot Direct and Diagonal (committing step round a corner). All good routes and by and large we had the place to ourselves.

We had great fun after the guidebook had fallen out of my pocket onto a ledge on Cave Route. Those who are familiar with the significant overhanging nature of Huntly's Cave may appreciate trying to abseil down and then swing across into the ledge!

Dave, would you not have been easier climbing through the crack at the back of the cave to avoid the abseil?
Ben A'an the night?
cheers

I don't think that I could either Dave, nor would I want to! Probably the kind of thing for people wae a "fondness for damp, dank, dark enclosed spaces (corners, chimneys, gullies). If they can fit!
